The Open Water Lifeguard (OWL) qualification is designed for those who wish to provide safety and supervision in open water environments such as lakes, reservoirs, and adventure activity centres. It’s suitable for complete beginners with no prior lifeguarding experience.  As outdoor water activities continue to grow in popularity, the demand for trained open water lifeguards is higher than ever. This qualification ensures you are competent to oversee planned, risk-assessed activities and respond confidently to emergencies in challenging environments.

Education & Prices

Duration: 

What You’ll Learn:

18 hours (delivered across 3 days)

The role of the open water lifeguard, hazard recognition, effective supervision, responding to emergencies, open water rescues, casualty management, CPR, and First Aid.

Assessment:

Learners will be assessed on practical rescue scenarios, CPR and First Aid demonstrations, and verbal questions to check theoretical understanding.

Price Per Person:

£250 for new, £120 for renewals

Completing this course equips you with a recognised qualification that allows you to work in outdoor water activity centres, events, and adventure environments.
