Paediatric First Aid

Whether you are working with children, or to enable you to deal with a medical emergency involving a child, I offer a range of First Aid courses to suit your needs.  All of my courses are HSE approved and the qualifications last for 3 years.  I have a new blended learning system so can offer both online and practical learning or a mixture of both!

Paediatric First Aid (PFA)

I offer the full Paediatric course which meets the requirements of Ofsted.  It follows the latest guidelines from the Early Years Foundation Stage and includes all of the skills required to save the life of an infant or child in an emergency. 

  • 2 days practical learning

  • online course followed by 1 day practical learning

Suitable for:

Childminders, Nannies for Ofsted Compulsory register; Foundation stage teachers, Nursery or pre school, and after school clubs.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA)

This 1 day course follows the syllabus of the Early Years Foundation Stage and meets the requirements of Ofsted for the voluntary register.  It covers the practical skills required to save the life of an infant or child in the case of an emergency.

Suitable for:

Nannies, Au Pairs, baby sitters, parents and grandparents.

  • Roles & responsibilities of a First Aider

  • First Aid kits

  • Primary & Secondary Survey

  • Recovery position

  • CPR resuscitation

  • Choking

  • Major bleeding

  • Shock

  • Seizures

  • Minor injuries

  • Burns

PFA Course Content

All the above, plus:

  • Anaphylaxis

  • Fractures

  • Sprains & strains

  • Head injuries

  • Poisoning

  • Stings & Bites

  • Eye, nose, ear obstruction

  • Epilepsy & convulsions
